Hobee's for fun and good food on the Peninsula
Hobees: a chain that really is a cut above the rest.
Most people avoid chains like the plague, but if they give Hobee’s a chance they will discover something very special and delicious about their food and something very friendly and welcoming about the staff. The owners of this mini-chain are committed to the highest standards of food quality and customer service. It is obvious when you enter one of their clean, fresh and tastefully decorated locations that they care very much about each and every customer that enters their restaurant. On their website they say, “Hobee's is an award-winning phenomenon boasting nine popular locations throughout northern California. Hobee's customers enjoy fast and friendly service in a casual, homey atmosphere. We offer generous portions at modest prices and are conveniently open for breakfast, lunch and dinner (except at Mountain View, Montague Expressway and Redwood Shores, where we serve breakfast and lunch exclusively). The restaurants cater to a delightfully diverse clientele: students, businesspersons (including the who's who of Silicon Valley high-tech) seniors and celebrities all feel warmly welcome at Hobee's. And we back up our motto that "kids are cool at Hobee's" by providing extras - like a special children's menu and custom-designed coloring sheets - to our tiniest patrons.”
They aren’t lying. Their portions are generous and the prices are very comfortable for even the slenderest of wallets. Their classics include The Bobit (the best darn breakfast in town, so they say) with 2 eggs, hash browns, and blueberry coffeecake (or toast for the calorie conscious) for $6.25 They offer an “eye-opener” with your choice of a variety of proteins or steamed veggies with eggs, the hash browns they are so proud of and again a slice of blueberry coffeecake or toast. Breakfast oatmeal, granola or bagels with cream cheese are yours for the asking, and a variety of pancakes, omelets and scrambles abound from $6.60-$9.25 with endless cups of coffee. There is a lovely variety of soups and salads, including a nice salad bar selection for $8.95, and quesadillas and sandwiches to satisfy every taste. The restaurant offers seven varieties of pasta, six of which are egg free with added grilled chicken strips for an extra $2.00. There are several chicken or salmon dishes, as well, served with red potatoes and seasonal vegetables priced form $10.95 for chicken and $11.95 for salmon. You can buy a glass of wine or a bottle of beer to enhance your lunch or dinner or stop in at one of these restaurants for an espresso or a super smoothie any time of day.
